Hello and thank you for visiting my website.

Family history and genealogy is fascinating and I began researching my own family more than 20 years ago. The interesting things I discovered prompted me to become a professional genealogist and family historian and help others find out about their families too.

Family history is not just about collecting names for a family tree but also finding out about the social and historical context of the family, how they lived, their work and their economic situation. This provides a truer understanding of their lives.

I have successfully completed the Advanced Diploma in Local History at Oxford University and the Postgraduate Diploma in Family and Community History at Dundee University. I have also passed the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies Higher Certificate in Genealogy and the Diploma in Genealogy.

During the course of my studies I have accessed and utilised many different types of records and sources available at local record offices, at The National Archives and on the internet.

I am an accredited professional genealogist and a full member of the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives(AGRA) and the Register of Qualified Genealogists (RQG). I abide by their Codes of Conduct.

I am also a member of the Society of Genealogist (SoG).

I live in Hampshire but originate from Cambridgeshire and belong to several family history societies relevant to my family origins.

Family Roots Research is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (IOC) and complies with the Data Protection Act, 1998.
